Learn About Auto Privileges
What is Auto Privileges?
Auto Privileges is a licensed used car dealer owned and operated by Telcom Credit Union.
Where do you get the cars that you sell?
Auto Privileges is a licensed dealer so we have the ability to buy cars at dealer-only auctions.
Why are these cars at the dealer-only auctions?
Finance companies, auto manufactures, dealers, and fleet vehicle management companies sell vehicles at auctions for many reasons. Many dealers are required to turn their inventory over every 60 days. They will bring cars to the auction that did not sell on their retail lot. Other companies
such as Ford Credit, GMAC, and Chrysler Credit do not have a retail operation.
Do you ever sell vehicles that the credit union has repossessed?
No, repossessed vehicles are handled by Telcom’s Accounts Adjustments Department.
If I don’t see a vehicle that I want, will you locate one for me?
Yes, we will try to locate a vehicle for you. However, our success in locating a vehicle will depend on availability.
Do I have to finance with Telcom to buy a vehicle from Auto Privileges?
No. However we do offer great rates on our vehicle loans.
How often do you get vehicles for inventory?
We usually attend dealer auctions weekly, but we only buy vehicles that are good deals for our members.
What is a doc fee?
A documentation (doc) fee is a fee charged by the dealer to prepare and file your documents with the Secretary of State’s office. Most dealers charge around $160.00. With Auto Privileges you pay only $50.00.
What is the difference between a selling price and the out-the-door price that dealers talk about?
The selling price is before sales tax, plate and doc fees are added.
How much will new plates cost?
Plate fees are calculated by the State based on the owner’s birth date and the value of the automobile.
Can I finance for 5 years?
Yes, in most cases Telcom will finance an Auto Privileges vehicle for five years. Some restrictions apply.
You advertise that your vehicles have the balance of factory warranty available. What does that mean?
Manufacturers warrant their vehicles for a set period of time or for a set amount of miles, whichever comes first. In most cases, it is 36 months or 36,000 miles. Because our vehicles are recent models with less than 36,000 miles they are still under their original factory warranty.
What is the difference between extended warranty and an extended service contract?
Only a manufacturer can warrant a product against defects. An extended service contract is really an insurance policy in case your car breaks down.
Do you offer extended service contracts?
Yes, Auto Privileges offers extended service contracts that can protect your vehicle up to 100,000 miles.
Who does the safety inspections on Auto Privileges vehicles?
All of our vehicles are safety inspected by the service department at a Ford, Chrysler, GM or Toyota dealer. They also rotate the tires, change the oil, top off the fluids and perform any maintenance that is needed. In addition they verify that any outstanding recalls have been completed.
How much money down do I need to buy a vehicle from Auto Privileges?
Your down payment will depend on your previous credit history. For those who qualify, 100% financing is available. Some restrictions apply.
Do I need an appointment to see a vehicle?
We always recommend you make an appointment so that we can give you 100% of our attention and you will know that the car will be available for you to see.
Can I test drive the vehicle before I buy it?
Yes!
